Favorite non-alcoholic beers?

I know that the alcohol is the fun part, but if anyone knows any good non-alcoholic beers in Japan, I’d love some suggestions. I’ve been shopping around for a good one and am currently having a Suntory All Free, which tastes like a cat’s piss after the cat drank another cat’s piss.

  1. When I was dieting a while back I was fiend for the all-free lime shot. I found it way better than the regular all-free.

I’m not sure if it’s still around but there used to be non-alcoholic lemon sours as well. Like an unsweetened lemonade.

  2. I like Beery, but it’s low alcohol (0.5% I think), not non-alcoholic. They used to have a white can which was really good, but the black cans are good enough for me, and way better than Suntory, Asahi Dry Zero, etc.

  3. Sadly it’s still far far far behind Europe in this regard here.. spent summer in Europe and in the liquor store in Stockholm I visited they had like at least 50 non alcoholic beers, another huge range of wine/cider/cocktails etc etc.. literally shelves of various drone.. tried quite a number and they were excellent.
Pretty much most breweries have a range these days and many of the German, Danish and British ones were top notch. Had some really good non-alcoholic drinks as well

  4. Sapporo made a pretty passable white ale up until a few years ago. Of course they persisted with the one that tastes like wet cardboard instead.

I tried pretty much all of them again a few weeks ago, and the Kirin Zero Ichi was probably the most passable, but that’s to damn it with faint praise.

  5. Over the summer I’ve been trying out as many non-alcohol beers as I could find.

All free and All free GABA were ok. I found non-alcohol Budweiser in gyomu super and a local supermarket, that was pretty good.

My favourite is still Asahi super dry zero.

  6. Honestly none of them, lol.

The ones that aren’t supposed to be beer flavoured are much better, there’s a suntory ノンアル気分 lemon thing which I could drink all day.

  7. 正気のサタン is excellent (technically 0.7% alcohol but that’s close enough to non-alcohol for me).

  8. It’s been frustratingly hard to find recently, but my favourite of the low alcohol variety is Sapporo’s Drafty – it’s nice and dry unlike Beery which is cloyingly sweet to me

  9. As others have said Japanese non alc beer isn’t really beer. It’s some kind of imitate chem beer-like beverage. I try to avoid it. There are two good German (of course) non-alc beers to be found those are veritas bräu (very light beer but clean and honest tasting), and then there is the slightly richer tasting claustaler. Both are good and I drink them regularly. Japan market has a long way to go to start producing real no. Alc beer but I’m sure one day it’ll come.

  10. Not helpful but, I’ve resorted to carbonated water and lemon. Tastes way better than non alcoholic drinks.

  11. They’ve got Clausthaler on Amazon, hands down the best alcohol free beer you’ll ever find.

All the Japanese ones taste like piss possibly because they’re making them 0kcal also which doesn’t make sense.

They have a vietnamese one in a blue white can in Kaldi also that’s alright.

  12. The BrewDog non alcohol IPA one (nanny state?). It has been available in the UK for years it should be available here now.

  13. I’ve tried well over 30 types so far…
These are my top pics at this time.

    Lagers.
Ninja beer.(easy to find and cheap.)
Sagres. Puro Malte (maybe the best so far.)
    Bitburger. Premium Pils.(best cost performance).

    IPA.
Hitachino Nest. Non-ale. (Good cost performance.)
Bravus. IPA.(you might think it’s beer.)
    Otaru Beer (honorable mention…)

  14. At 0.5%, I quite like Beery.

Some of the non-alcoholic lemon sour cans (I think especially the one from Suntory) have also been surprisingly refreshing.

  15. My coworker introduced me to Clausthaler non-alcoholic beer. That was smooth af. Also available on rakuten.

  16. Bavaria is good, kinda like hoegaarden with a bit of citrus taste to it. Also Sapporo’s Craft IPA Type is really good. I wish I could find a good non alcohol black beer here. For a regular light beer taste I like Kirin’s green free. I would avoid getting any with fake sweeteners as those all taste worse from what I’ve tried.
