Looking for a good place to spend New Years

I’m currently living in Kyoto and am currently trying to figure out a place to go for new years. I’m trying to go somewhere besides the Kansai region but the problem is I’m not too knowledgeable in the small or lesser known areas across the country.

If anyone has any recommendations on good places to spend new and go to 初詣 I would love to hear them. I am still a university student so my budget is not massive.
