There something wrong with the Google store website? Also, any international (no shutter sound) phone you get will not support Felica, which is necessary for mobile IC cards like mobile Suica.
if you don’t care about Japanese NFC support then pretty much anywhere? Amazon/expansys/ebay/whatever?
if you buy it locally from Google store it will have felica NFC support and shutter sound (don’t quote me on this but I’ve heard removing jp sim card and replacing with eu-usa-etc removes the shutter noise).
You’ll have the shutter sound no matter what if you use it in Japan, unless you root it. Mine automatically turns off the shutter sound when traveling overseas
From the Google store.
I bought and imported from Hong Kong or Singapore. I don’t get mobile suica though which sucks but the phone was cheaper.
My husband and I bought ours on Wireless Place. Google Japan and Amazon Japan will ship you the Japanese version with shutter sound. Google US wouldn’t ship to Japan.
BTW as others have said, Pixels (even non Japanese versions) magically get the shutter sound when you put in a Japanese sim
Thank you, everyone, for sharing experiences and information. Much appreciated!!
