For example, if I message 田中さんfor the first time in a few years, would it make sense to say 「田中さん、久しぶり!」
Or do you have to be the person being greeted and say 久しぶり second.
A: 「Bさん、こんにちは!(久しぶり?)」
B: 「あっ、Aさん、久しぶり!」
If so, how would you greet someone after not seeing them for a long time. Would a simple こんにちは or よう suffice?

I myself would say お久しぶり but I think it’s fine to just say 久しぶり. There’s no problem with saying it in your original greeting at any rate.
