   I have a student visa and I’ll be moving to Nagoya on the first week of October.

   I was planning to sign up with IIJmio for an eSIM after getting my residence card as my phone would work best with the au network.

   However, the Visit Japan Web platform requires me to provide a contact phone number, and I cannot put my current EU phone number as the website doesn’t accept “+” or “00” for the international prefix.

   I’ll be staying in a sharehouse that doesn’t have a landline phone number.

   I looked into Mobal or Sakuramobile but it doesn’t seem like I’ll receive a phone number before phisically activating the SIM card on arrival. (and they only provide normal SIMs, which I’d rater avoid)

   Am I forced to go with the Skype number route to have a phone number before arriving in Japan?

   Or could I provide another phone number (e.g. school) and then update it on VJW when I get a personal one? (Can I even updated my personal data after entering the country?)
