**Permanent Residency in Japan through HSP**
Can I obtain permanent residency in Japan through the HSP points system by proving that I have EXACTLY 70 points (not one more or one less) at the time of application and 3 years before applying for permanent residency?

70 points is the threshold of eligibility for the first tier of expedited permanent residence. Not 69 points, not 71 points.
You will need to demonstrate that you’ve held those points for the entire 3 year period, not just at the start and end of an arbitrary 3 year period.
You also must currently be holding a status of residence for the maximum duration of that type (usually 5 years although anecdotally immigration usually allows 3 year status holders too). HSP is an automatic 5 years but if you’re holding another status this is a way immigration can soft lock out undesirables.
