What options are there for watching wrestling on TV?

I’m not a big wrestling guy myself, but I think it could be something that me and my son could get in to together.

But as far as I can tell, there’s no wrestling on Japanese TV.

I’ve googled to see if I can watch WWE, but it seems like that would need a subscription to “peacock” and a VPN.

I would subscribe to WWE network if that was still a thing, and available in Japan.

(also, side topic: tickets to live Japanese wrestling shows are about 8000 yen. That seems like way too much.)

  1. Wrestle Universe has DDT pro wrestling, TJPW, NOAH. Then there is NJPW World and Stardom World. These are all online subs and not TV.

If you want to watch Wrestling on TV then check out Abema TV.

  2. WWE Network still works here, it’s only the USA version that got merged into Peacock but the international versions are still the same.

Almost every major wrestling promotion here has their own streaming service, from the big NJPW to Stardom.

If you want to bond with your son then I suppose I would recommend the Japan-based promotions as then you will be able to occasionally go to a live show and that’ll be a lot of fun if he’s aware of the wrestlers and drama.

Lower-tier promotions usually have much cheaper live events, and often play in smaller venues like city community centers so sticking to those might also just be an option and have fun cheering all the amateurs.

Plex has an Impact channel which just shows their stuff 24/7, with most of that airtime being old events, but it’s free.

  3. I don’t have a tv but NHK World puts up video of all the current basho matches on the subsequent day. I love it so much.
