I am closing on an apartment with UR. However today at the office they said I will have to deposit the initial fee at the time of application signing in Cash|genkin at their central office. Has anyone experienced this?
Just did the process two weeks back. It was cash. They didn’t take any other alternatives.
Yes, eight years ago I took nearly Y3m in cash to their office near Tokyo Station and they just took out a cash counting machine.
I was on a new Business Manager visa with no work history in Japan, so they wanted 12 months rent up front plus the usual deposit and first month’s rent. I was keenly aware of everyone within 2 metres of me on the train ride over!
