Kanazawa sim card/pocket wifi help

Hi guys, I just moved to Kanazawa as an exchange student and need help with what to do about acquiring a sim card/pocket wifi. I didn’t realise I had to order one in advance at Narita airport so am now currently stuck using whatever free wifi is available to me. Can anybody tell me what my best course of action is. I’m planning on being here a year and need to make every yen count so what is best to do ?

  1. Since you’re a resident, walk into any store that sells sim cards for residents and grab one. You can also sign up for IIJMIO online and submit all the documents online as well.

If you need more than 5-10gb of data, ahamo is another option (costs around 3000/month).

But there are many services for residents, just don’t look for “pocket wifi” because nobod uses that here except tourists. Get a proper sim/esim.

  2. Ubigi offers e-sim card for pretty cheap. I pay 20$ for 10g (30 days). They dont provide cellphone number though.
