boyfriend visiting me, can he go to Korea with me and come back to japan?

He is visiting me in Japan after having landed here less than a week ago and staying until late October. Since he is the one visiting me, we were planning to have a quick trip to Korea next week, but then i started wondering: can he actually just leave japan and come back without any issue at the border? The point is that he already visited me.less than a year ago for two.months already. Can he just leave and come back without there being any issues?

  1. It all depends on his nationality and whether he has visa-free access.

When my wife and I were dating, I went to Japan, then immediately we went to Korea, then came back to Japan after a week. No issue as both are passports didn’t require a visa to go to Korea.

  2. If the country of the passport he travelled on is part of the visa waiver program, then no issue. In other words, if he didn’t have to apply for a visa in advance, it’s fine.

If he did have to apply for a visa, it depends if it’s single or multiple entry.

  3. He will need to supply proof he has a flight booked to leave japan though. Otherwise you could have issues boarding the air craft back to japan from korea

  4. If he didn’t require a visa to enter Japan to visit you, he should be fine to spend up to 180 days of the past 365 days in the country. If his return and new 90 day span would put him over 180 days in the past 365 days, there could be issues.
