Hello, currently residing in Japan under SOFA status. However, how do I go about getting a job here so I can change to a visa? Long term goal PR.
Are there places here I can go to that will help me find jobs in my career? I am assuming like head hunter agency but do they accept foreigners?
I have a bachelor’s in IT but I also hold a commercial aircraft license- (Non Japan license)
I’m currently learning Japanese as well.

Try Robert Walters.
If you’ve got the degree and experience, try to apply to IT jobs that say “No Japanese required”.
You can apply for PR after ten years of residency, with the most recent visa before applying being a 3 or 5 year work visa.
Or, if you marry a Japanese person you can apply sooner (I believe three years marriage, with at least one year residency).
There’s also a point system for highly skilled professionals that can help you qualify sooner.
If money’s not an immediate concern for you, first thing I’d do is register at a language school as a full-time student, that’ll help you get your Japanese to a higher level more quickly as well as start establishing your residency.
Start sending your resume to IT jobs. That’ll be your easiest path, especially if you put in a lot of effort to your Japanese language studies.
Unless you have an ATP the CPL probably won’t be a path to a visa for you.
