  1. Documental on Amazon prime.
No laughing batsu new years special on reddit (what’s the name?)
    Wednesday downtown.

    What sort of shows?

  2. 水曜どうでしょう

You can find it on Netflix and Unextin Japan. 4 guys just messing around, usually while doing some difficult travel task, like drive across the US in 5 days.

  3. I enjoyed ‘Alice in borderland’ on netflix. Kind of an anime premise with people getting stuck in a game world – but it’s not animated, there’s next to no fan service and it’s actually made pretty well imo

  4. If you want a TV show then YOUは何しに日本へ is nice, it’s entertaining and I practiced Japanese with it for a while.

If you want a reality TV show then Terrace House is a fun watch (Lauren Tsai claims she learned Japanese by watching the show)

If you want a series based in Tokyo then Tokyo Vice

  5. Gaki no Tsukai should be entertaining enough! Their Japanese is kinda hard for beginners to catch though since they speak with a Kansai accent.

  6. If you’re looking for dorama, and you like mystery/action, I’ve got a few reco’s for you – there are a lot more out there, but these are ones I’ve watched and enjoyed:

    Ouroboros

Cold Case – Shinjitsu no Tobira – all 3 seasons

    Galileo

Kindaichi Shonen no Jikenbo – all seasons

    Unnatural

    99.9 Keiji Senmon Bengoshi

    Crisis

    Signal

    Kaito Yamaneko

    Nemureru Mori

    Kaseifu no Mitazono

    Thursday Theater Keigo Higashino Mystery

This is a TV movie-series of sorts, I think based on Agatha Christie novels mostly starting Manzai Nomura:

    Orienti Kyuko Satsujin Jiken

    Kuroido Goroshi

    Shi to Yakusoku

  7. The Politician is great. Drops of God is half in Japanese and is amazing. Also recommend Tokyo Vice. Watched it three times.

  8. These are the list of dramas I reccommended on another question recently, if you’re into dramas.

Heard good things about **Usokon** (fake marriage trope), but haven’t watched it yet. Same with **First Love**.

**Nigehaji (Full-time wife escapist/We married as a job)** is pretty cute, also kind-of fake marriage.

**Debu to rabu to ayamachi to! (Fat, Love and Mistakes)** is on my watch-list, and I’ve read some of the manga, so it’s probably a fun one. It’s about an overweight woman who used to be bullied for her looks. She gets into an accident and loses her memories, and finally sees herself as cute. Her true happy personality comes out.

**Lovely Complex** is a cute drama (and anime, one of the few where the characters speak in Kansai-ben), about a short guy and a tall girl.

**Koi wa tsuzuku yo doko made mo** is kind of a typical romance jdrama with the “cold and arrogant” guy, which I’m not a fan of (the reason why I don’t watch a lot of Japanese romance), but it’s alright for a watch. It’s about a girl who falls in love at first sight with a doctor after an encounter, and decides to become a nurse.

Not sure if you’re okay with BL, but **Mr. Unlucky Has No Choice But to Kiss!** was a short and cute story. (And I will add another adorable BL movie, **Cherry Magic**.)

My absolute favourite jdrama is **Tiger & Dragon**, about a yakuza guy wanting to learn rakugo (Japanese comedic storytelling).

I also love **Samurai Gourmet**, lots of amazing food shown and the story is interesting. Especially the “back in time” fantasies.

**Nihonjin no shiranai nihongo** is pretty entertaining and was on youtube for a while (with Eng and Jpn subs), not sure if it’s still up. It’s the drama about a class of foreigners learning Japanese.

**Orthos no inu** is a really interesting drama, about a man who can heal with his touch and another who can kill. But their personalities are opposite to what you would expect. A detective meets both by chance and discovers their powers.

**Doctor X** and **DOCTORS** are entertaining medical dramas.

  9. 水曜日のDowntown(list of episode on r/GakiNoTsukai)、Keyakitte, Kakenai?、Hiragana Oshi. ALOT of episodes, ALOT of fun. Look for the one with subs on keyavids/com.
