Would it be rude of me to put a Student Driver sticker on my bicycle? More info in text body.

I’m a foreigner that’s going to be working here for quite some time. Instead of a car, I bought a bike. I think I have a hang of bike etiquette, but there’s always a good part of me that worries about being a bother. I’m still new to living here, so I’m still getting used to life and with that, biking in Japan. Would the community be irritated if I put a student driver sticker on the back of my bike (hoping they’d kind of understand that I’m saying I’m new here), or would they maybe think it was funny? Maybe they’d be like, “Yeah, that checks out.”

  2. Rude? Absolutely not.

But, honestly, there aren’t many rules that are followed here re: bicycles. People are constantly on the wrong side of the road, swerving across the entire bike area, using their phone while cycling, turning out of blind corners at high speed without looking. Old guys are going to do something stupid, almost hit you, and scream at YOU about it as if it was your fault.

There really is no bike etiquette, so you don’t need to worry about it. The sticker would be seen as a silly joke.
