Help with Itinerary – Tokyo for 10 Days

This is our itinerary for 10 days in Tokyo. I’m travelling with my grandma which is why some days are quite low-intensity. Any advice will be appreciated! Posted this in r/TokyoTravel as well, but I thought I would post it here too, to get any advice!

Additionally, I’m thinking of doing Mitsui Makuhari – has anyone been there, is it worthwhile?

  1. I enjoyed hands in Shibuya, it’s nearby so you can see if you wanna spend half an hour there

Also, you forgot hachiko the bestest boi outside Shibuya station

I ended up spending two days shopping in Shibuya and a day and a half in Shinjuku…but we fit in coffee shop breaks and we’re slow…

  2. Are you taking the bullet train for the experience? There are normal trains that go to Yokohama

  3. If your day 1 starts at Shibuya sky at 1240, there is just too many places to cover. Might I suggest split it out over the other days. Iif the Starbucks roastery you’re referring to is the one in meguro, there are probably going to be a long queue, so take that into account.
Also it’s better to take the normal tokkaido from Tokyo station to Yokohama as shin Yokohama is actually a good 15-20 mins away from Yokohama, so you end up paying more and taking longer unless it’s entirely for experience.

  4. Day 1 is so packed and has so many “shopping” activities, are you sure you’ll not get bored after awhile? Or do you actually plan to buy stuffs from those stores?

  5. Day 1 is too crowded.

It would make more sense to do Shibuya and Harajuku on the same day (they’re within walking distance of each other), then move Shinjuku/Shin Okubo to day 5.

Like others have said, Tokyo Station to Shin-Yokohama station takes less than an hour by local train, unless you really want to experience the shinkansen you’re better off saving the money.

You’ve mentioned beads, around Asakusabashi station are a lot of small bead stores, not a whole day thing but since you’re staying around Ueno it might be worth visiting.

  6. Harajuku and Shibuya are close (one stop using JR line) so just do the shibuya shopping on the same day you’re going to Harajuku. Spend the first day in shinjuku and shinokubo, you will not be able to visit that many shops in one day
