À few times where negotiating quotes, vendor start with price A, then give us a discounted price B. But a couple of times they’d say something like “when considering our offer please consider the price A and not B”.
I’m obviously limited by my Japanese here but any idea what it would mean? Does it mean they just want us to pretend price B was a secret, or could it mean a “sign now only” kind of discount?

Why does JR Pass exist? I understand it’s probably good for encouraging domestic tourism, but it’s not clear to me how it benefits JR Group, which is a private company. Is it subsidized by the government?
In laws are keen to give us a plot close to their home, so that we can build a house here.
Living close to family (whether mine or in laws) in countryside is like a dream to me. We planned to buy a plot to build but they decided to give us this plot.
Is there tax- related things we need to care about ? My partner has an elder brother that will also get a plot with a house already built.
Yuucho cash card works abroad…right ? Travelling abroad for the first time in a while and I can’t recall using my cash card a single time before abroad so this will be the first time. I have a foreign credit card as a backup but I’d rather not use it unless I have to.
Are there any guarantor services for things besides rentals etc? I need one for the application process for a visa to travel to another country.
Because Autumnal Equinox Day was on saturday, will monday be a holiday or not? Supposedly some holidays move to monday if they happen on a weekend day but I don‘t know it for sure.
