Nov \ 21 Nights – Tokyo, Kanazawa, Kyoto and Metal (Itinerary)

TLDR: see **bold** text

Hello Reddit,

Always been fascinated about the japanese culture, but didn’t expected to get there this fast.

I booked the flight only 3 weeks ago and started to mark the recommendations I got from this sub on a google map to see where to go.

Hope you have some feedback for my rough plan.

**Facts:**

* **First time solo** traveling
* **First time** traveling **outside Europe**

**Frame:**

* Experience the **local metal scene**, concerts included
* **Exploring**, especially places with an “atmosphere” (city at night, old towns, hidden shrines…)
* **No stress**

**Interests**:

* **Anime** and **Art**, I love animation and art in general, but am not really into the fandom with merch etc.
* **Beer** and **Food**, I like beer and don’t get much japanese food here. So the plan is to try everything.
* **Metal** and **Music,** all genres but this time I would like to stick to the more burtal stuff.
* **Temples** and **Shrines**

**Unimportant**:

* **Shopping**, at most some souvenirs
* Fixed sights, **no specific sight really comes to mind that I absolutely need to see**. I will likely follow the must-sees, but it wouldn’t bother me if I miss some when there are other opportunities.

I am flexible with the **days** and they **can be swapped.**

After the main focus I will just explore the area or have a look at my map.

  1. There is a fare amount of type or things not written properly in the first days. Meiji is the posthumous name of a former emperor. It’s nothing in itself. You probably mean Meiji-jinju. Gyo park ? You probably mean Shinjuku gyoen. What is that? Next is probably a typo, but Ueno, not Uneo.

    I see that Arakicho is a place not too far from Suga-jinja… but what is there you want to see?

    Not sure what you mean by “over Shirakawago”, but you can stop by Shirakawago on the way between Kanazawa and Takayama.

    If I had to choice to return to Tokyo or Kyoto after Nara, I would to Kyoto, the reason is simple, it would likely be easier to leave luggage at the hotel and take it back once you are done to go to Tokyo while going to Tokyo after Nara you would probably have to leave your luggage in a coin locker in Kyoto station or Nara station.

    Both Hakone and Nikko are interesting and they have different things to offer. I would look at the attractions available and see what interest you the most.

  2. Hi,
    I would recommend for you if you are interested into nature and the autumn colours. To leave early from shinjuku and do a day trip in Kurobe gorge and end in Kanazawa later at night 😉
