Anyone who has adopted pets I was wondering what do you need in order to adopt cat? I lost my cat and it’s been depressing and lonely without him. I live in Aichi Okazaki. I’m not really planning to buy a cat
Might be a bit far for you. Cat itself was about 5万円. If you spring for a couple 万 more they throw in the starter pack but since you already had a cat then you probably dont need it. You fill out the application and they deliver you the cat within a few weeks if he/she needs sterilizing.
Not all the cats are listed on the website, but if you go in person you can meet all of them rather freely. They allow you to fill out the paperwork on the same day. Friendly people, No English though.

They do amazing work with animals and anyone with a few extra yen, they are an NPO and you can write off any donations.
At your local veterinarian there might be a flyer for a cat circle where you get to meet local cats needing homes. I went to one, did a quick interview, and a few days later they brought my baby to my house. The organizers did a cursory inspection of my home and kept in contact for the next 30 days to insure there were no problems. Costed me 4万円.
You could also see if your local 保健所 has any cats. They usually have “expiration dates” attached. We got my old man (20 year old tabby) from a nearby one a few months ago.
It’s Japanese only, but there are loads of cats looking for good homes there. You can search by region.

I got my dog from the hokenjo 保健所. I believe most places have shelters through them. My city is of the three towns around me. I think everything was less than 10000 yen but that included all the shots, registration and voucher for neutering. So it was inexpensive. It got expensive when they found prostate tumors, a hernia (or something similar) and the dog hotels. lol loved that dog.
