Long story short is I got a masters scholarship here and was an engineer in the US before and am looking for work while a grad student. I was working remotely as a CAD designer making models for a company in New York, but after the 3rd project deadline, I was up working until 5am on random days for weeks. Each week was so inconsistent, and one morning I had to give a presentation in Japanese about my research at 8 the next morning and also had a work deadline pop up. It was fun and challenging for a bit and think about going back, but I’d rather make 60% of that money and have a better schedule.
The amount of time you have as a grad student here is an absurd abundance and the VISA allows 28 hours+ full time about 4 months out of the year during the times off. I genuinely enjoy designing and programming and I have 4 years of CAD/3D experience, can program in a couple of languages but haven’t had any luck finding PT job, only Full time for several companies. 🙁 I have N2 and speak without any problems and my school is considered top 3 in Japan which people here seem to care about. Does anyone have any idea how they would approach finding a position? I’m not really open to teaching English bc it exhausts me and I have a skill set that I think is needed. Ideally if I could work 5-6 hours a day at a consistent time (even ending at 5am) or an inconsistent time that ends before 2am, would also work.
Any advice or anyone who is looking for a part timer, I greatly appreciate your help
