I got an e-mail back from recruiter today basically saying “We can’t help you.”
Title.
General recommendations are fine. However, there must be specialized agencies out there, so I’m curious to know about those too. I’d like to find a communications / marketing or journalism gig, as that’s the field I was working in prior to arriving in Japan.
Otherwise, any tips and tricks with regards to actually dealing with recruiters would be appreciated. It’s not something I ever had to engage in back home.

Talk to the ones who have been doing this job for a long time. They have a network and results.
How’s your Japanese?
Randstand, Robert walters n teksystems for me
Update your LinkedIn profile as much as you can and set it to “open to work.” That’s what I did and I had an influx of recruiters reach out. If you’re bilingual (even without JLPT cert), make sure it’s written somewhere on your profile!
