There’s a gachapon machine outside my job that has wristwatches shaped like old gaming consoles. Specifically, PS1 and Sega Saturn. When you open the lid, there’s a tiny CD and the time on a digital display. They are 400 yen. It appears empty, or nearly so, but hard to tell with the cardboard display picture, and its too dark to see in the back part.
Will it return my money if it’s empty? I could throw caution and 400 yen to the wind, but, someone here probably knows the answer.

After inserting your coins, if the compartment is empty of capsules the machine physically won’t let you turn the knob, it’ll feel like it’s locked. Pulling the release coin lever will simply give your Â¥400 back. No harm in trying. Good luck!
If there was a particular one you wanted, try searching on Mercari, Yahoo etc
Sometimes you’ll find it on there without having to roll the dice to try get the one you want.
I know it takes the fun outta it a little, but hey!
Oh wow I’ve actually been looking for those since the release months ago. Lucky you!
Definitely go to Akihabara etc if you’re in Tokyo, it’s likely you’ll be able to find a machine that still has them in stock.
