I moved to Nishinomiya to study and it’s still too damn hot for my Nordic ass. I packed only two shorts thinking that I buy couple more from here but I can’t find ones anywhere. I just came from a mall where I looked from 7 different stores. Any recommendations which places would sell shorts, ideally a little formal ones rather than workout shorts?

I personally really like the CQR shorts at Amazon. Cheap, ripstop, good colors, durable. Work well with a T, polo, or button down.
Not sure but Uniqlo, GU, 無印(muji) might still have shorts? You could also check Uniqlo’s website to check if they have stock at the store before you go. Otherwise, online might be the only way.
Uniclo
It’s officially autumn, so very few shops will still be carrying summer items (in fact, they stopped about 2-3 weeks ago). It might be hard to find shorts in person now, though I suspect you could still get some online (though of course sizing may be an issue.)
Yeah, no more shorts at Uniqlo.

Not sure you have it in your neck of the woods, but “avail” has all kinds of shorts.
I used to wear the gu chino shorts all summer long for the past few years. They still have shorts on their online store but sizes will probably be the issue unless you’re a tiny Nordic?
Amazon, Rakuten, Zozotown, almost any online store.
Aeon
Uniqlo
Amazon… AliExpress, SheIn etc
You absolutely cannot buy summer clothes at stores in Japan right now. I have the same problem.
They just have hot autumn stuff right now. Feel like throwing up when I see it. It’s far too hot.
I have basically stopped buying clothes.
H&M, Uniqlo and GU but you may have to order online. Maybe also look any big sports or camping shops close by?
Get a cheap pair of trousers, chop at the knees, and hem as desired. If you want to spend a little more, a dry cleaners may do the alterations for you.
Du får ha det gøy på Kangaku!
Sakazen too, but yeah, the season is off – but sometimes they put the sale bin out for “off-season” stuff so you can find things still
