Some important documents came by mail while I wasn’t present at home, and I got a notice to go to the post office and collect it.
I couldn’t go in the time they specified and when I went later, they said they didn’t have my package anymore.
What are my options? I’m a newcomer and can’t speak Japanese that well so couldn’t really understand what to do..

They were returned to sender. You’ll need to contact the sender to have them sent again
Did they say where they sent em ? Like they usually don’t return to sender unless they attempted delivery a few times.
Wait, was it more than a week? Cos they r supposed to keep it for 7 days
