Hello, I’m planning to resign from work to pursue another opportunity outside Japan. I was wondering if it’s possible to to stay, say maybe a week after my official employment termination date, to sort out some stuff without ‘overstaying’.
The reason I’m asking this is because all other threads I’ve read is for people who have the humanities/engineering visa being able to stay up to three months to look for another work and whatnot. I’m on the HSP visa, which is tied to my current employer, and I’m not sure if my ability to stay in Japan legally terminates the same day as my last official date of employment.

Check your residence card, if you want to stay longer go to immigration and switch to tourist status.
Just make it easy on yourself, go to an Immigration lawyer, they speak english and about 5000 yen for the consult
