KIX Long Term Parking?

Any experience or hacks on long term parking such as off airport parking lots that might be cheaper than the terminal ones?

Yes I know the suggestion is to not drive yourself to the airport, take public transportation and ship luggage but for this trip it would be best for my family if we can drive so I’m considering options…

We will be traveling for two weeks.

Any advice appreciated!

  1. For two weeks, offsite is better. You drop your car off at terminal 1 and they’ll take it to their parking lot. Some offer a car wash service. When you arrive back at KIX, call them and they bring the car directly to the exit. Edit: there are no official offsite parking lots. They’re all private businesses.

    10/10 would do again.

Under a week, then on-site is better. Get the KIX-ITM point card for free and save 25% on parking

  2. If cost is not a big concern, the fee to park 2 weeks in the KIX parking is 22,000yen. [See here](https://www.kansai-airport.or.jp/en/access/parking). It also mentions that if you have a “KIX-ITM Card” that you get a 25% discount making it 16,500 for 2 weeks. It seems to be a point card that anyone can get, and it has no fees, so it’s probably worth filling out the application and getting one if you are going to park at KIX. This will be by far the easiest and most comfortable option as you just drive in, park, and walk directly into the terminal building. Raining? Not an issue. Late night departure/arrival? Not an issue. It’s the stress-free option for those who can afford it.

If cost is a concern then there are offsite parking options. Some have shuttle vans that take you to the nearest station so you can scoot across to the airport. Others are just near a station so you can walk. You want to make sure they are going to be open when you need to arrive and when you need to get home, and of course you have to factor in the cost of train fare to & from the airport for your family. I don’t have any specific recommendations but you might want to [start your research here](https://parkinggod.jp/airport/kansai-airport/).

Personally if I had a family with small kids (and all the extra stuff that goes with it), I’d just park at KIX. You might save 7000 or 8000yen off the discounted KIX price but it’s not worth the extra PITA factor when traveling with kids.

  3. I haven’t used it in a while, and don’t know if it still works, but you used to be able to park at Kobe Airport for free (for up to about a month) if you used the ferry to get from there to Kansai Airport.

  4. I’m planning to park at one of the rinkku town parking lots, this end of year. With train tickets, I calculted that it’s cheaper by some 8000 yen.

Just use google map to find one. Many of the reviews also say the same.
