My pc screen came with a ground cable, but I don’t have where to plug it?

Only fridge/washing machine/AC intended sockets in my mansion-building apartment have the plug+ground slots, all the others are just normal sockets (just two-pin flat holes). Both my PSU and screen came with small green cables protruding around the plug, is it really mandatory to connect these? And if yes, how would one go about securing this ground connection in parts of the apartment that has access to none? I am originally from Europe and the plugs here confuse me :’D

  1. This is where to plug the green cable.
In my case the socket with ground is far away from my PC, so I had to buy a cable and just extend that green wire to wherever the socket with ground plug are.

Usually the most obvious effect of not grounding your PSU would be a buzzing noise in your audio.
Static electricity usually won’t immediatelly damage components though. Some people said it might affect the long term life of it, but then one of my PC in home country is never grounded and still working fine.

I personally still ground them mainly because the audio. Also I hate getting minor shock from my metal keyboard.

  2. I live in a 5LDK and believe it or not, only two outlets in this entire house have ground.
    My solution is: Don’t bother.

I don’t ground my PC or monitor cables (because I have no way to do so), and my current company and previous company don’t do it either. Too much of a bother.

Nothing is likely to happen if you don’t.

  3. There are several posts explained before, you can check [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/comments/xpzynv/why_dont_japanese_outlets_have_a_ground_isnt_that/) and [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/comments/14fnhdf/grounding_wire_question/) or [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/comments/tfys1t/why_no_grounding_pins_on_electrical_appliances/).

The short answer is actually you can just leave the ground wire hanging or cut it.

In Japan ground/earth is mainly for high power appliances such as microwaves, refrigerators and washing machines which are close to water and has high risk of shock. If you feel unsafe then use a surge protector.

  4. Ground wire is for human protection. To short out a fault; trip a circuit breaker. It is a safety ground; not an earth ground.

Sometimes an appliance will leak a current. Microamps. That ground wire will also bleed away that current. So that touching metal surfaces does not create a tingle.
