What is this called?

Does anyone know what this white thing is when cooking fish? Is it like parchment or something? Thanks for any help!

  1. Yakiami 焼き網

It’s a metal mesh that’s been coated in ceramic. It converts some of the heat from the gas stove into far infrared for more even cooking.

The top and bottom part are usually sold together.

It’s great for partially dried salted fish like the salted salmon in the pic, and dry foods like vegetables, but if you use it for fresh oily fish or other juicy ingredients it will create a lot of smoke.

  2. They are the best, I toast my bread on these things every morning. Sometimes zucchini or bell peppers. Easy indoor grill.
