hi! i’m part of a study abroad program that requires students to have a japanese phone number and to have a data plan. in the past, most students have just purchased a SIM card and been done with it, but myself and several other students have an iphone 14, which for some godforsaken reason does not have a physical SIM card tray, meaning an eSIM is the only option.
unfortunately, almost all Japanese eSIMs are for tourists, meaning they are data-only and do not have a phone number attached. my program coordinators have informed us that some major Japanese mobile companies have eSIMs with phone numbers, but I can’t find them, and they won’t help us any further (thanks a bunch, guys). i’m also aware that another guy has asked pretty much this same question in the past, but I had a lot of trouble verifying that any of the replies they received were actually what i’m looking for.
so – can anyone help me find a japanese eSIM that DOES have a japanese phone number attached? please and thank you!

I’m using eSIM. All the major carriers offer it.
For cheaper plans, Iijimo. https://www.iijmio.jp/gigaplan/esim/phone/
I’m using an eSIM with Ahamo (Docomo’s cheaper partner)
