I need to ship some of my things to Japan but I do not have an address there yet!!

So basically I live in UK and am moving back to Japan in November and I do not have an address there anymore, I need to have a few things delivered before I arrive but as of yet I do not have an address. Unfortunately I am not at liberty to wait for my stuff once I arrive there I need them there as soon I touch down in Japan.

So I am writing to ask for help of how I can deliver my things to Japan and have them stored at maybe a storage facility or a depot from where I can pick up once I arrive, if anyone has any idea on it I,de be grateful.

  2. How much are you trying to send? Paying for extra luggage can be an option.

I used to work for airlines, I know people ship personal effects on the same plane they board as cargo (which you need to have an airway bill/AWB), they clear their own custom after arrival. You might wanna call the airlines first if you wanna go this way.

  3. You can get an address there to send things. I used black ship in the past, then you can pick it up in person if you want. It is in Yokohama.

  4. Do you maybe have friends or someone you could send your stuff to and then pick it up after you’ve arrived?

  5. If you ship using Yamato they can hold your boxes in japan for a month without charge..I think you can also pay to have them hold it longer.

  6. You can use any of the major shipping companies like Yamato. It’s a frequent situation where people are moving without knowing their destination address. A shipping service like Yamato will bring your stuff to Japan, clear it through customs and store it until delivery.

When I moved to Japan, Yamato held onto my household items for 3 months while I looked for housing. For items that I needed, I used extra luggage as u/-Piova- suggests and air shipping with Yamato.

When you say ” 1m x 1.5m x 1.5m, with 40kg weight” in your other comment, is that a single item or multiple items?

You don’t need specifically use Yamato, on Google you can probably find a broker that will find the most efficient way to get your item to Japan.
