Genki chapter 11, workbook page 105 – couldn’t find it in the vocabulary or remember if I ever encountered it before, can’t find much on Google and Google translate says “lounging around” whatever that’s supposed to mean.
It means exactly like that. Basically idling around(in your house) not doing anything. (ごろごろ) is an onomatopoeia for rolling around or scattering about, basically idleness. So (ごろごろ) + (する)”to do” is to idle around(in your house).
My dictionary says “idleness” and “lazily.” It’s an onomatopoeia so try looking more for resources that cover those because Japanese is heavy on them.
You use this word when you don’t feel like doing anything so you sit on your bed our couch just scrolling through your social media (or Reddit). As you said: lounging around.
Genki gives it as a vocabulary word in lesson 10.
If you’re looking up “する verbs” elsewhere, remove the する, because most dictionaries will list just the base word and say that it can be used with する.
