I used to watch this show with my grandma when I was very little. It’s been about 20 years now. My memory of it is a little vague but if I remember correctly, the premise was that there was a panel of talking heads. I think it was like 5 people. They are presented with two types of food/dishes and they had to decide which one they want to eat and at the end the people who won the popular vote gets to eat the dish while the losers have to watch. Before the dish is presented, there’s like a documentary style crew that follows how the key ingredient is made and what makes it so special. I remember one episode one of the food options was melon pan and they got the melons from this super specialty farm and their melons were extremely expensive.

Believe that would be 「どっちの料理ショー」
“Dotchi: The cuisine show”

That could describe any one of about 7000 programs. Japanese TV has been and remains chock a block with ‘food and demonstrating the superiority of Japanese ingredients’ style content.
