Study on a senmon gakko

Hello,

I am planning to study on a senmon gakko, l have the N2 level now. Is it enough? On a lot of school webpages it says “above N2 level” but doesn’t say n1 or specify which level.

Also, I am 29 now, I heard is not posible to enroll on senmon gakko when your age is 30 or above. Is it so??

Thanks to anyone that can contribute with information or experience
Appreciate a lot

  2. N2 or any of the JLPT ranks are very loose ways to determine ability imho. For example, someone can have N1 but struggle in the Japanese portion of an interview because skills like speaking and writing comp aren’t tested.

I have no reason to believe that you are not capable but there’s just too many factors. Such as the context of the class, the method of instruction, the communication you’d be required to do etc. if you can it might be more effective to ask people “has anyone gone to <insert name of school> what was your experience there”.Otherwise, maybe reach out to graduates via LinkedIn to ask them directly.

What kind of specialty school is it? How long does the specialty school last? If it’s a two year program and they don’t accept anyone over 30 what happens to the rest of your coursework?

Just as a final thing though, I’m going to imagine that you’ve already discussed visa issuance with your school if you need one and that they can provide sponsorship of one correct? Not all specialty schools sponsor visas.
