Employer putting less hours into my contract so my social insurances cost less?

In the contract my employer has written less than 30 hours per week, when they intend on shifting me 40 hours. They have said this is so I am eligible for cheaper national health insurance.

Can someone please explain what exactly this means?

Thank you.

  2. It means they’re playing games with the system to shift the responsibility of your insurance onto you.
