Itinerary 10 days late Nov

Hello all!

I’m planning my autumn holiday with my fiance, her 1st time but 2nd time for me (spent 6 weeks for a business trip, with some holiday in Tokyo e Kyoto).

My temporary itinerary:

19/11: Arriving in Osaka at midday, we’ll combat the jet lag with shopping and food in Dotonbori e Namba

20/11: Castles days: Osaka Castle then Himeji Castle. Then train to Kyoto.

21/11: Fushimi Inari at sunrise then Tofukuji, Nishiki Market at lunch, the Kiyomizu-dera, Kodaji and Murayama park (illumination night in Kiyomizu-dera)

22/11: Kinkakuji at 9am, then full day dedicate to Arashiyama

23/11: Ginkakuji, philosopher path, Zenrin Ki, Nanzen-ji, before lunch travel to Nara. After dinner travel back to Kyoto

24/11: Travel to Hakone, hope to enjoy Fuji view. then spend the evening in a Ryokan

25/11: Spend the morning in Hakone or Travel to Shinjuku.

26/11: Asakusa, Senso-Ji, Ueno, maybe akihabara then Sky Tree

27/11: Shinjuku, Harajuku, Meiji Jingu and Shibuya.

28/11: still open, maybe Ginza, Tsukiji and teamLab. Or day trip to Kawaguchiko If the weather in Hakone was bad. Can change between other days looking weather forecast. Or day trip to Nikko

29/11: flight from NRT at 19:30 so we spend last day for shopping or some missing stuff

I wil not buy the JRP. Do you think is better to stop in Hakone or go to Tokyo directly then 1 day later go to Hakone w/ the Hakone pass? And do you think after Himeji is better to spend the night in Osaka?

I just bought the flight, so I’m open to changing my plans in case of a good suggestion 😀

Thanks

  1. > Osaka Castle then Himeji Castle

I’d suggest just going to Himeji: Osaka Castle is a concrete reconstruction, while Himeji is the real thing.

  2. I think doing more than 2 or so areas in a day or so is ambitious personally. I’ve had multiple areas down on my current trip and even with us doing 25k+ steps and being out more or less all day we’ve really struggled to fully enjoy the days that have had fuller itineraries as it’s been a lot of rushing around to get to everywhere!
