So… what now? In my opinion it was the best way of checking train connections on the fly. However, opening the app now only shows a notice saying “Services provided on this App has been terminated”. It seems like the contract with NAVITIME has gotten too expensive and renegotiations failed..
Edit: Looks like there will be a new one by the end of 2024, according to the Japanese-language announcement here: https://www.jnto.go.jp/news/info/20230602.html

Oh man, that app was absolutely fantastic, it was super helpful last time I was there
This isn’t the “Japan Travel by Navitime” right? because I can still use that app…
What app would people most recommend in place of this?
I still miss Hyperdia 🙁
Nuts, I really liked the app for figuring out routes to tourist spots and hotels while using a specific region pass.
I switched to JapanTransit-Planner, which is the Jorudan app. 30 day free trial should be plenty to cover your trip.
Such a pity. It’s a good app where it will also show the stations between the stops
I used only google map when i was there, didn’t miss any train or take a wrong one, it works very well.
Omg why. It’s the only app that tells you what fucking track number to go to.
I actually didn’t use the app much when I was in Tokyo. I used Google Maps which worked well too. So maybe give that a try?
Jorudan is also pretty good just for the trains
