I’m planning a first time trip to Japan with my partner March 21 – April 15 next year and am keen on some advice and opinions on our current plan. It’s pretty high level and right now we’re looking at how long to spend in each place, and looking for any recommendations on day trips! We are hoping to catch cherry blossom so any guidance on that would be great also!

**Tokyo (7 days):**
Landing around 5pm on the first day. Main plans are: lots of shopping and eating, TeamLab Planets, Ghibli Museum, Street Kart, day trip to Nikko

**Kyoto (3 days):**
Shinkansen from Tokyo, Kiyomizu-dera, Arashiyama

**Osaka (6 days):**
Shinkansen from Kyoto, plans are: Universal Studios, day trips to Nara, Kobe/Himeji (thinking to combine these into a single day trip, thoughts?)

**Hiroshima (2 days):**
Shinkansen from Osaka, plans are: whole day peace memorial park and museum, day trip to Miyajima

**Okinawa (4 days):**
Flight from Hiroshima, thinking to stay 2 nights in Naha and 2 nights in Nago, at least one day exploring other islands but keen for advice here!

**Hakone (2 days):**
Flight from Okinawa to Tokyo, train to Hakone and rent a car. Would like to drive down the Izu Peninsula and check out Izu Shaboten Zoo. Maybe drive up to Lake Kawaguchiko if it’s worth it? In Hakone we want to check out the Open Air museum and planning to stay in a Ryokan

Don’t do the street kart. They’re loud, disruptive, and the majority of locals including me despise them. They’re also super dangerous and just cringy lol
