Itinerary Check – 7 day round trip in Shikoku (+ 9 days WWOOFing)

Hi everyone!

Coming november we’re taking a trip to Japan (which will be my 2nd time) for almost 6 weeks. The first 21 days will be a road trip through Honshu ([ROUTE](https://imgur.com/kAj3wvG) \- red is the direct route, blue is day-trips from the AirBnBs), which is already made an itinerary check on here which was very helpful!

A quick note: my partner has Long Covid, and she’s limited in the amount physical energy she has. We realize that most of the journey will be on trains and transport – we’re well aware of this 🙂

The next 17 days, from November 30th to December 14th, from which we’ll be WWOOFing in Higashimiyoshi / Tokushima Pref from December 5th to December 14th. So here’s the the itinerary in short. If you need more info pls let me know. I’ll leave out most the food related stuff unless it’s relevant to the itinerary 🙂

Here’s an ugly route I made in Paint: [https://imgur.com/3i2G3uR](https://imgur.com/3i2G3uR)

Here’s an estimate on the transport duration & cost: [https://imgur.com/osUImhj](https://imgur.com/osUImhj). I’ve done the math, and a Seishun 18 Kippu ór Shikoku Rail Pass wouldn’t cut the costs here.

**Day 1 (Nov 29th):**

* Fly from Narita to Matsuyama in the morning (1h50m flight)
* Take the express train to Uwajima and visit the Uwajima Castle after checking into the hotel

**Day 2:**

* Take the train from Uwajima to Kubokawa (towards Kochi)
* Get out on the way to walk part of the route and walk over some submersible brighes, to get onto the next station’s train.
* Walk around Kubokawa and get lunch as we have to wait for hour 90 minute transfer time anyway.
* Take the train to Kochi
* Check into hotel
* Eat at the Hirome Market
* Walk past Kochi Castle at night as it should have some light shows by this time

**Day 3:**

* Take the whole day to visit the [Nakatsu Gorge](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Nakatsu+Gorge/@33.5542242,133.2206935,12.33z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x354fca53e0467e9f:0x8c750437756d1236!8m2!3d33.5609852!4d133.1296943!16s%2Fg%2F1tfml5rq?entry=ttu) (train back to Sakawa, bus to the gorge. The reason we’re not doing this the day before is because we’d have our luggage with us, and there isn’t much of hostels/hotels in that area.
* If we have any time/energy left, we’d visit the shore in the south of Kochi (by bus)

**Day 4:**

* Check out
* Visit the Omichou morning market
* Take the train & bus towards [Cape Muroto](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Cape+Muroto/@33.2463201,134.1717208,16.12z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x3553614e9ccb98f9:0xfaf9d88fdf805902!8m2!3d33.2449382!4d134.1765283!16s%2Fg%2F1q5bkvcj0?entry=ttu)

  1. Just so you know you’re not allowed to do woofing on a tourist visa. I know it’s common practice, but don’t mention it when you arrive at immigration. Any form of compensation (including room and board) is not allowed on a tourist visa
