Itinerary Check – 17 days – May (9th – 26th) – Tokyo + Kyushu Roadtrip + Okinawa (Optional)

We’re travelling with a group of 4 – 5 friends (mid 20s). Is the trip below too cramped if we were to visit all of these three places? If so, would you recommend focusing on just two or even one? If you have any tips for any of these locations feel free to share them! We would really like to combine Tokyo and Kyushu, the rest is optional.

# c. 5 – 12* days Tokyo

In Tokyo we would just like to explore the city, eat great food, enjoy the nightlife, and visit some popular spots (Tokyo Imperical Palace, Shibuya Crossing, Hachiko, Shibuy Sky, Mori Art Museum, Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, Omotesando, Miyashita Park, TeamLAB Planets, etc.). We’re also thinking about adding some day trips (Snow Monkey Park, Nakasendo Trail, Kyoto).

# c. 5 – 12* days Kyushu

In Kyushu we would like to rent a camper van at [Samurai Campers](https://samuraicampers.com/all-campervans/) and make a roadtrip. This part of our trip should be all about enjoying nature. We would like to focus on visiting some waterfalls and hiking through the mountains, perhaps visit the Beppu hot springs, making a day trip through Takachiho Gorge, visit the Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu shrine, etc. We were inspired by [this guide](https://www.journeyera.com/things-to-do-kyushu/?fbclid=IwAR1k2lxr_G9V6AsCD0AO2vBTfA6fvxqhUGNBO3ebYZzYAxTpQlsjRxiwIq8).

# c. 3 – 4* days Okinawa (Optional)

This last part of our trip is optional. If it’s doable/recommended, we would like to visit either Okinawa or Amami. Here we would just like to enjoy the beaches and do lots of swimming/snorkling/diving, perhaps visit the Okinawa aquarium, do some cave exploration, etc. If we were to go to Amami we would like to do similar things and perhaps do some kayaking through the mangroves there.

\*We’re not sure how much time we would be recommended to spend at these locations given the goals that I described, hence the margins.
