Itinerary Check – 10 days in Tokyo + Day Trips

Hi All!

I’m travelling to Tokyo with my partner (28M 26F)

About us: We’ve done other parts of Japan before, but it’s been 12\~15 years since I’ve been to Tokyo and a first for her. We love animes, and I particularly love Pokemon stuff (cards/games etc.). She would love some arcades + some shopping (vintages/makeup/clothings) etc. We are also pretty chill, and love to relax on our trip more than to rush and see everything.

Hotel: Staying near Akihabara for the entire 10 days as we love anime + arcades and it’s one of the cheaper options.

Here is our itinerary:

**10 Oct (Tue)**:

* Arrive to Tokyo at 10PM (hopefully we make the train?)

**11 Oct (Wed)**:

* Morning at Imperial Palace
* Lunch at Ginza
* Art Aquarium Museum
* Tokyo Station (and pokemon center (missed the cafe slot))

**12 Oct (Thurs):**

* DisneySea

**13 Oct (Friday)**: Kamakura Day

* Following a guide by Tokyo Cheapo
* Kotoku-in Temple- Hasedera Temple
* Komachi-dori Street- Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine
* Hokokuji Temple
* Hiking in Kamakura- Shichirigahama Beach

**14 Oct (Saturday)**:

* Akihabara
* Shinjuku + Cafes + Kabuchiko
* Pokemon Center Mega Tokyo

**15 Oct (Sunday)**: Hakone Day (Is Hakone on a Sunday a bad idea?)

* Planned based on weather forecast (less cloudy)
* Hakone Shrine + Heiwa no Torii
* Motohakone Port to Togendai Port
* Cable car up to Owakudani
* Open Air Museum and then Gora Park
* Maybe stay at an onsen hotel here as we’re going to fuji tomorrow?

**16 Oct (Monday)**: Fuji Day

* Chureito Pagoda
* Random walks around the area
* Gotemba in the late afternoon (too ambitious?)

**17 Oct (Tuesday)**:

* team labs
* tsukiji outer market
* asakusa
* ameyoko
* ueno park
* sensoji
* 6pm ticket at skytree

**18 Oct (Wednesday)**:

* Tokyo tower (not going in) and surrounding area
* Harajuku
* Meiji Jingu
* sunset Shibuya Sky
* shibuya shopping

There seems to be a lot to do in my itinerary and I’m afraid it’ll be overwhelming.

Summarising the questions:

* Will arriving at 10pm in Haneda be too late for a train?
* Is Hakone on a Sunday a bad idea?
* Is staying at a ryokan at Hakone worth it if we’re travelling to fuji the next day? as we researched that it’s not so convinient to go from Hakone -> Fuji anyway.
* Is going to Gotemba outlets after a trip to Fuji enough time?

Thank you in advance and feel free to comment if any of our days are unrealistic

  1. Shibuya Sky for 10月18日(水) is already booked out 2:30 – 6:40 . . . hope you got your tickets already . . .

    Kabuchiko = kabukicho (the cho is 町 in kanji and means ‘town’)

    I see your trips in Tokyo are all in the Yamanote. Might want to take a day for Yokohama or an excursion out to a small lake-park like Inogashira Koen (park) in Kichijoji via Shinjuku or Shibuya or Shakujii Koen out of Ikebukuro.

    If you’re really adventurous you can take a bus for ¥220 from the “Tokyu hyakkaten-mae” stop in Kichijoji to Shakujii ; )

    They’re not all that amazing in the scheme of things but [they’re nice enough](https://www.google.com/maps/@35.7399754,139.6020975,3a,60y,232.61h,86.71t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sSi3z-pr-ZQw1KGHSKoi7nw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu) and I think it’s fun to get out of Tokyo proper to see how real life is in the suburbs.

  2. If you’re planning to arrive at 10pm in Haneda, make sure you fill out the check in online. I think it’s visit Japan or something like that so you can generate a QR code. Saves a lot of time trying to get through customs

    I cant stress this enough if you’re trying to get out of the airport asap

    Outside of that, I recommend seeing shinjuku at night because its a nightlife area.

    Regarding Pokémon centers, I went to the one in sunshine city and Shibuya. Mostly had the same stuff so if you are pressed for time, you can skip one of them
