Question regarding speeds of cheap mobile plans(Ahamo,Linemo )

I got a new phone and it seems Line Mobile(Previous Linemo) does not support it, so I’m considering changing to a new provider.

I’m a little weary about the speeds though, I remember when I changed from UQ to Line Mobile, I had a drop in speeds, specially when traveling between prefectures. I’m not sure if this is due to it being softbank(which I believe is the 3rd best network, with au and docomo being 2nd and 1st respectively) or just because line mobile was a budget provider.

I’m considering getting Ahamo but I’m also open to getting a normal docomo contract, but it seems I cannot find any information regarding it.

Anyways, my question is, is there a difference in speeds between Ahamo and Docomo? If there is, is it significant?

  1. Not much as it’s less of a MVNO and more of a docomo’s cheap no-customer-service brand. It will slow down after you use up your 20-30gb or whatever is monthly limit but to 1mbps which is still serviceable as opposed to 250k or similar for mvno-tier offerings.

    Same goes for au’s povo.

How is your phone “not compatible” with linemo? Is it that old (can’t accept 5G sim card or similar) or is it a foreign phone/bands issue?
