[SEEKING ADVICE] Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route!

Hello everyone!

I will be solo-visiting Japan (28M, second time soloing, visited mainly the city areas in April this year, but overall will be my fourth trip to Japan) in November this year.

I came across the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route while doing my research and it looks like a place I would like to visit! The issue is that I’m having slight difficulties including this routh to my itinerary.

I’ve booked my accommodations so I would prefer not to make any changes to them (albeit easily done as they are within the free cancellation period). **Mainly will be visiting Kanazawa and Takayama** \- so I am considering to include the route between these two cities.

Do you guys think it’s possible/feasible if I were to follow the following route:

**Kanazawa > Tateyama > Alpine Route > Takayama**

… in one day?

  1. That doesn’t really make sense because Takayama and Kanazawa are both on the same side of the Tateyama-Kurobe Alpine Route.

Theoretically you could do this, but depending on your itinerary, it makes more sense to do it before or after this segment of your trip (e.g. Takayama -> Tokyo)

  2. This route is literally impossible in one day.

Your only option is an out and back option on murodou from the tateyama side. And you still wouldn’t get into takayama until like midnight.

Break this up into 2 days. Do murodou and back to Kanazawa, then shirakawago and go to takayama in the evening. Or reverse those.

It’s also easier to end your trip in Kanazawa because shinkansen
