I’m an upcoming Cloud Architect thinking about moving to Tokyo

I just came back from a 2 week holiday in Tokyo and already made some friends and I really enjoyed the city. I’m 27 y/o and currently work as an Cloud Consultant in Germany. My current job is training me to become a Cloud Architect very soon (1 year from now). I’m planning to move to tokyo after finishing my professional development and acquiring the offical Microsoft Azure Cloud Architect title.

So basically I will have 3 years of experience in Cloud technology. Do you think finding a job will be possible in tokyo for me?

I can’t speak Japanese but I’m willing to learn it.

  2. With just 3 years of experience you will definitely need at least bachelor degree from university. There are indeed jobs in cloud computing and Azure is afaik used normally so it might be possible. Easiest way in is always to get job at intl company in home country with chance of relocation or temporary placement.

I’d recommend to not make such big decisions just after you return from holiday (honeymoon phase). Living here is def not a 2 week vacation. Do A LOT of research first.

  3. Just a reminder that living here is much, much different than just visiting on vacation and I wouldn’t take your experience as a tourist as how life truly is. Not saying it would be worse or better but it’s important to remember you will not be living your life that way most of your time living here.
