I’m moving to Japan in December and was wondering if anyone can recommend somewhere to buy some textbooks for English-speaking Japanese learners. Specifically, I’d like to pick up Tobira whilst I’m there. I’m also wondering if it’s any cheaper to buy it in Japan than here in Australia (in Australia I can get it on Amazon for just under $40 so about 3600 Yen.

Tobira is 3800 yen on Amazon Japan, that’s likely close to the same as what you can get it in a store in Japan. So it’s about the same price in either country. Up to you if you want to lug a textbook to Japan or just buy when you arrive.
Yuurindou and Kinokuniya should have Japanese language textbooks for English speakers.

If you’re looking to go to a bookstore to physically buy books, virtually every Kinokuniya has a Japanese textbook section for non-native speakers.
The Kinoukuniya adjacent to Tokyuu Hands in Shinjuku has an absolutely massive section, but most Kinokuniyas I’ve been to have Genki, Minna no Nihongo, Tobira, and JLPT practice books, along with various others.
