TIL it takes 10 days to get a certificate of balance from my bank SMBC, mailed to me

Needed it for a visa. My fault, should have checked before. Sometimes , some errands that should take less than a day in your home country will take more here. I knew about the inconvenience of banking here but totally forgot this time.
I’m pissed, sorry for the rant .

  1. They had to mail it ? There was no option to go to the bank and do it right then and there ?

  2. As is the case with a lot of these things, there was probably something lost in translation and you asked for something that is unnecessarily heavy.

  3. And this is why I use SMBC Prestia. You can just print their stuff right off the website. It look official. Even if they don’t accept it at the embassy it will buy you some time to get the original stuff.

  4. Why not do a print screen from the website? That’s what I did for my PR application and had no issues.

  5. Oh it’s the same for Shinsei. And you can’t request it online, you need call them during their business hours and make a request and it will then be mailed to you by snail mail.
ETA: which embassy are you applying to? For Korea they accepted a print out of the webpage for the latest month. And i downloaded the estatement from the account for a couple of months prior.

  6. That’s why I bank with an online bank. No physical branches so all of it is online and available instantly.
