Is there any practical age limit that the big chains like AEON and NOVA will not hire? What’s the average age range? Also, what kind of accomodation do they provide?
A place I used to work for said, on their website, that they won’t hire anyone over 35.
Do not take their shitty apartment, they will be stealing tens of thousands of yen from your already pathetic pay cheque if you take it.
I knew a guy who came to Japan in his mid 40s to work for Nova and he was promoted to manager within about 6 months and transferred to a better location.
Age is not a huge issue to a limit of course. Mind you the older you are the further into Assfartsville Nowhere population you they will ask you to work. So be willing to accept isolation and be willing to drive.
No accommodation is provided, as in paid for. But some companies will help you get an apartment.
