I recently ish got my visa extended and got a new Zairyu card. I don’t need to get my address put on the back of it at the city hall because they already have it on file and I haven’t moved since right?
Are Genki sushi and Uobei the same store branded differently, or just owned by the same group (like lower quality fish at Genki)? I’ve heard a few people say in the same sentence that Uobei is their favorite while Genki is their least favorite – but I was under the impression they’re one and the same.
So recently started a new job this month and my first week so far has been submitting and signing documents ither than meeting the new team. One thing is that my new company is asking a copy of my MyNumber Card. I already gave them a copy of my residence card, bank information, pension information, etc. so I’m a little surprised why would they need my MyNumber Card info after all that.
I suppose they already have all of my other information so I’m not too worried about personal info security and such. But I’ve never had to submit it in my previous job so anyone might have an idea why?
I’m planning to buy a new iPhone in america in a few months, and I currently have Nuro Mobile in Japan.
I keep an American number, so when I go to america I’ve always just switched out the physical SIM cards (and deleted/redownloaded APN profile), but when I upgrade to the 15 the physical SIM cards will become essentially useless.
Nuro Mobile just recently added an eSIM option that I can apply for, and my current phone is an 11 so it accepts esims, but I’m not really familiar with them at all. My question is, is there any disadvantage to switching to the Nuro eSIM now, even though the physical card works fine? Or should I just go ahead and do it?
Anyone watch the first broadcast of WWE Raw on Ameba last night?
Some of the subtitles were hilarious and descriptions of the wrestler’s even worse. “She posted a bikini photo when she got re-hired by WWE” or “Their tag-team name changes a bunch”
Funaki did the commentary but it was so awful and so many missed calls.
In the comments, I saw things like “This will never be as popular as AEW!” which made me chuckle.
Is conditioner and treatment the same? Asking for my hair.
My 2 year old injured her elbow at daycare when I was out on errands and mom was at work, so neither of us could go pick her up immediately. They took her to the hospital for us, and the hospital said there was nothing wrong. When I went to pick her up a few hours later, she was obviously in pain and not moving her arm at all, but they said the hospital checked her so I just brought her home.
She was in pain all night and still not moving her arm in the morning, so I took her to a clinic the next day, and it turns out she got a pulled elbow (AKA nursemaid’s elbow, a type of elbow dislocation common in small children). They fixed her elbow on the spot and she was back to using it mostly as normal within a day, but I’m a little worried about how the whole thing happened.
Accidents at daycare happen, so I can forgive that, but how does a hospital miss one of the most common injuries in small children with (what looks to me as a layperson) a textbook presentation? I’ve never had any problems with the daycare up until now, but I’m a little worried about how they told me she was fine both on the phonecall after the first hospital visit and when I went to pick her up, when she clearly was not.
After I called the daycare and told them that she was in fact injured, they said they’d make an incident report and tell me what happened in more detail the next time she goes to daycare, which was going to be yesterday until she popped a fever of 38.4.
Is this all pretty normal for how a daycare in Japan handles an injury? Is there anything specific I should be asking the daycare in the follow up? Should I maybe call the hospital on my own to see what happened during her checkup?
Where in Japan is a great place for me to move to where I can sun gaze every morning?
So I matched with a woman about 10 years older than me (in her late 30s). And things have been going the opposite of what usually happens… She’s carrying on the conversation, asking me out and planning out the date and all.
Although this sounds great, but I’m kinda spooked as this sort of stuff never happens xD
Anything I should be wary of? The profile doesn’t seem suspicious though, with proper images and description of her hobbies and interests and all.
What’s the current “rules” on Covid? Like if you catch it, is 5 days still normal to WFH or take time off?
Any Nagoya folks around?
I visited for the first time this week and thought it was fantastic. The one thing that surprised me and would annoy me if I lived there was how packed the trains were. I took the Higashiyama Line on Sunday around 18:00 and it was probably the most packed train I’ve ever been on. Then on Monday afternoon, I took the same line around 15:00 and it wasn’t as bad as Sunday, but still more people than I ever see on the trains I take in Tokyo around that time.
Is this a known thing there or was this an outlier experience? [This article](https://japantoday.com/category/features/lifestyle/the-most-crowded-train-and-subway-lines-in-tokyo-osaka-and-nagoya-are) is from almost 10 years ago but shows Nagoya trains aren’t nearly as bad as Tokyo ones.
If I got my passport renewed while in Japan, will I have to present the passport I most recently used to immigration at the airport alongside my new passport?
I just received a big tax rebate ($5k+) into my U.S. bank account.
Is there any reason for me to not go ahead and switch it all to yen while the conversion value is prime? I plan on living in Japan forever and have no reason to keep U.S. dollars, especially since I don’t really travel abroad or would use it for anything.
It’s the first time something like this has happened to me, so I just wanted to check.
My job charges everyone in the company a couple man 万円 every few months for something called a shinjukai, like a company wide pot for parties and other things.
But that’s a lot of money to give with no guarantee of return. Is this common in Japanese companies or am I being taken for a ride?
