I’m visiting my family in America on Saturday and I realized I won’t have cell phone service since I have a Japanese phone plan. Is there a company in Japan that rents out portable Wi-Fi modems that will work in America? Or does anyone know any companies that rent them in America? Thank you!

amazon.jp sells t-mobile etc prepaid sims. you can prolly still get some if you order right now.
if your phone supports esim check esimdb for usa plans.
you can prolly get some ‘pocket wifi’ thing at airport on arrival, would likely be cheaper than getting something locally if you really need it.
seconding the t mobile sim, tho I just went through their site directly to get one.
I used wifi services like wifibox in the past, but the esim is most convenient since it doesn’t require depending on a wifi brick+you get a phone number.
