Hey everyone!
I’m an australian living in Japan on a visa for the next 6 months. Was just thinking about buying an iphone while i’m here as i’m in desperate need of an upgrade. Just wondering if there’s anything I need to be aware of considering im not japanese or will not be living in Japan 5 months from now.
Also wondering if it’s true that it’ll have the shutter noise on all the time.
Thanks 🙂

iPhones have shutter sound on when connected to a Japanese network, doesn’t matter where you bought it.
Edit: my bad, I mistook the update on ios15 that disabled it when overseas and some people noted it enabled in Japan.. only applies to Japanese models

Once you leave Japan, you can disable its shutter sound.
The shutter sound can’t be disabled when using Apple camera apps, however 3rd party camera apps can still disable it.
Did the same thing. No problems at all.
I just had a problem with the phone 2 weeks ago and with the apple care+ I didn’t have to pay to get it substituted. I just had to wait 2 days because they have to give you the exact same phone, so they had to order it from Japan.
They told me the only thing that doesn’t work is the theft protection, if I get my phone stolen I can get a new one only in japan
I don’t know about Australia, but iphone15 in Japan has the sim card slot while some countries don’t.
