Does SBC Clinic accept patients who do not speak Japanese?

Hi! want to get the double eye lid procedure at SBC but do not speak Japanese. For those that have been there, do you know if they accept English speaking clients? Thanks in advanced!

  1. Fastest way to find out is to call them and ask.

In my experience most clinics will accept patients who don’t speak Japanese so long as someone is around who can communicate with them, be that a doctor or a friend/relative of yours. If there is literally nobody they’ll often turn you away simply because they can’t communicate with you at all and have no idea what you want and no way to communicate with you about risks, necessary medication, etc and so forth.

In any case even if you don’t speak Japanese you can call them and if someone speaks English you’ll know. If you have nobody who can communicate at all and can’t figure out what was said, there’s your answer.

  2. I’ve had quite a few procedures done at SBC. I speak fluent Japanese, but from what I understand you’ll need to bring an interpreter with you if you cannot understand Japanese. They might deny it unfortunately. Some of the doctors can speak English, but counseling and pricing is done by regular staff who can’t. So the acceptance may depend on the exact clinic branch or doctor.

As for SBC itself, they have a few really really good doctors and some bad ones too, so don’t just choose SBC in general but look at the exact surgeon you want!! I picked mine because he does so many of the operations I wanted.

Bianca clinic in Ginza will treat non-Japanese speaking patients for an extra fee for the interpreter. They also have a special monitor program for foreign patients, so you might get a discount if you accept your picture being taken.

  3. They have an article online about a Chinese/English bilingual counselor at the Shinjuku clinic. Could give them a try
