I’m looking for recommendations and opinions on Shirakami Sanchi and the Lake Towada area. We’re currently planning to stay in Hirosaki for three nights and renting a car. The idea is to spend a day in the Shirakami area and a day in Towada-Hachimantai.
* Should I be worried about parking? We’ll be there on Monday/Tuesday at the end of October.
* What’s the deal with the hike to Anmon falls? I read that you have to bring a helmet but it’s not clear to me what the danger is. Are rentals available?
* Any other recommendations for the Shirakami area? Juniko seems nice but probably not feasible to do that and also the falls in one day.
