I applied for Highly-Skilled Professional Visa (高度専門職1号(ロ)) from Tokutei Katsudo (特定活動) visa at Kobe on 15th September. They asked me to send in more documents on 22nd September, of which after a discussion with the person in charge from the immigration office, he asked me to forget about it. After that no news about it until now. Tried to call them a few times and all they told me is still under processing.

I wonder is HSP visa application taking longer time as well now? Since there is no much info about HSP visa process time, is my case unusual? (I have seen a lot of advertisement or post stating that HSP has the fastest processing time which is around 1-2 weeks.)

FYI, I graduated from the graduate school of Kobe University (神戸大学) in April and currently possess a job-hunting visa (特定活動) which will be expiring by the end of this month. I also got a job offer which should be starting this month and is unable to start working due to this issue.

You can look at the statistics yourself and see that 1-2 weeks was never a realistic target, especially since a change of status takes longer. https://www.moj.go.jp/isa/publications/materials/nyuukokukanri07_00140.html
At least two months for change of status. You’ll be lucky if it’s 6 weeks.
